I am an aupair in Denmark now. I've had very good caring experience with the kids since I was 8 years old. Even I am still young my aunts asked me to baby sit their own child because at a very young age they can see I am responsible, trustworthy and very caring, until I went to College. I took nursing course. We learned different stages of development from newborn until elderly. We tackled also how to manage their tantrums or how to give first aid if they got burned, wounded or got sick. I was exposed to pediatric ward, NICU, OB Gyne, Delivery room, etc. We were trained to be patient, more caring, communicative, advocative, flexible with changing schedule of duties and be alert and responsible at all times because we handle patients' lives. In addition, my experience of being an aupair made me become more open-minded, adaptive to new environment, and I had the opportunity to learn new languages and mingled with other people and I was able to experience their way of living and culture. At the same time I shared also our values as Filipino, culture and some filipino cuisines. I had also very fantastic experience being an aupair/nanny because I brought or picked up the kids from the school/kindergarten, the amazing thing is that the other kids in the school/kindergarten they would like to play with me and they wanted to go with my host kids to the house so that we can play together. I am somewhat popular in the school/kindergarten, even the teachers or caretaker knew me :-). But of course I always took responsibility when my host parents left or when I was assigned to care for the kids but all the disciplinary actions I will make will be depending on the host parents or how they will raise up or discipline their owns kids. Additionally to that they also asked my opinion as an aupair/part of the family of how to discipline a child. So, I also shared my experience when I was taking care of my aunt's children and all of what I learned in school and in the hospital. Then we together discuss it. When it comes to the household chores, I have a good time management, in terms of cleaning, laundry, ironing, cooking and baking. In my spare time, I use my time wisely like baking some breads or cakes. I love to bake apple and banana cake:). The kids were always excited to go home because they wanted to taste what I made for them. Other than that I walked with our dogs in the forest. I like sports also like badminton, volleyball and football. I am fond of travelling, visiting museums and other new places I've never been to. This family is very busy, responsible, and sweet family with 4 children. The eldest son is 14 years old, he likes football, computer games, making DJ and sailing. 2nd kid is a girl, she is 12 years old, she likes to bake, to play piano, and to swim. 3rd kid is 8 years old. He likes taekwando, swimming, playing computer and ipod games. The youngest is 4 years old. He is sweet, sometimes moody, he likes to play with me, to act as a policeman, fireman, and he likes to play lego. I always bring and pick up the youngest son from kidergarten. After I arrive to the house I go out with the dog and do cleaning. After cleaning I bake or go out with the dog to the forest. And then sometimes I cooke food and we eat together and clean the table and kitchen.

This was busy, loving and caring family with 3 kids. The eldest kid is 10 years old, he likes to play hockey, do something with computer, he helped me to learn how to speak Dutch, he was helping me in baby sitting his younger brother sometimes, very bright and sweet. The middle son is 6 years old, he is a bit naughty but sweet. He likes football, especially playing lego and trains. The youngest is 8months, he is very sweet, we were together all the time. He liked that I read books for him, or used to sing or listen to the songs. He liked when every time we went to the playground and played in the sand. When he was sleeping and the 2 boys were at school, I was tidying the house, folding the clothes and fed the dogs. That family wanted me to come back because the kids were missing me a lot but the aupair program in Holland is only good for one year, but I visited them one time when I had my vacation, just to see them and hug and play with them.

Education Comments:

At the age of 10, I was in grade 4 when I decided to stay with my aunt so that I can go to school since my parents could not afford to send me to school. As an agreement with my aunt, I would stay with them and then they would help me to finish my studies but I needed to help them in doing household chores, gardening, and helping in their mini grocery store after my school or during weekends and especially during summer vacations. However, even I had so many things to do after school and I didn't have much time to study still I managed to become an honor student from elementary until high school. For the reason that I wanted to achieve my goals that is to have a better future and also to support my younger sisters in their studies. I stayed with my aunt for almost 12 years, until I already finished my bachelor's degree and passed Nurse licensure Exammination.
